TIME FOR A CHANGE.

I think Oblivious Mind has had it's run. And because of Blogdrive's slow loading and sometimes, not loading at all problems, I have transferred over to Blogspot.

Empty Handshakes - MY NEW BLOG.

Enjoy the makings of my new blog.

This will no longer be updated...but it'll still be around for viewing purposes of the past.

Anyone that has me linked, I would much appreciate an update for my new blog.  But if that's too much trouble, I understand :)

Happy Blogging.

Thanksgiving...

Thank you for providing us poor students with OSAP through the most annoying process ever.

Thank you for giving me a fish that likes to eat dead flies that fall into his bowl.

Thank you for giving me a new addiction to Diet Coke. (I'm sure it's really healthy for me...no really.)

Thank you for making it rain when only one wiper on my car works.

Thank you for allowing my parents to move to the middle of nowhere, far from civilization.

But most of all, thank you for that essay and exam that you scheduled the Tuesday following Thanksgiving weekend, resulting in my inability to go home.

Lucky for me, my mom loves me so much, she decided to come here.   Nonetheless, how can I really enjoy the time with my family when I'm freaking out about this exam and essay.

------------------------------ end ----------------------------------------------

Now that wraps up the frustration side of things.

There are lots to be thankful for, but I won't bore you with a list.

Let's just say that I have a great family, friends and a great boyfriend to get me through weekends like this.

So HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! Eat some delicious turkey for me! MMM stuffing.

Mouthful of Cavities

No, it's not just a Blind Melon song.  I literally HAD a mouthful of cavities.

So, last Tuesday I went to the dentist's and I had 4 cavities that had to get filled.  He had to freeze the top 2.  This was the first time I had to get any sort of freezing done as I was a "fillings virgin".  My whole mouth was numb and I felt like the inside of my cheeks was actually food or something.  I kept gnawing at it. Anyways, it's been a week now and I still have the worst pains in my gums and jaw and now it has moved up to my head.  My head feels like it's under constant pressure and that a sumo wrestler is sitting on both of my temples (which is logistically impossible, i know) but anyways...so much pain. I even called the dentist and asked what the F is going on, and all they had to say to me was "you're probably suffering internal trauma to your gums" and something about "himotoma, or himotima" I don't even know.

All this rambling has really only one conclusion.

Extra Strength Advil and Tylenol are my new best friends.

.Live it out.

Incredible show last night put on by Metric...wow.

The opening band - The Lovely Feathers.   Pretty sweet band.  Although, it was the first time ever hearing them.  I might check into them though.

Then, Jason Collett came out to rock the show.   Jason was talking about how most of his band if from my hometown, Barrie, Ontario. woot woot.  Then called out a friend to help sing.  And it was none other than Carly Aiken who went to my high school.  CRAZY.    He seems pretty chill though.  He manned his own merch after the show and signed a poster of his for me.  YAY ME.

Then the big one came out.  Metric.  Fuck I love Emily Hanes. Wow. Blew. My. Mind.

In the process of renovation

Alright, so I almost had a heart attack.  I went to change the layout around because clearly, the new header does NOT look good with all this pink. But when I initially changed it to another layout, everything on the blog but the header DISAPPEARED .  I thought I had lost everything that I had posted about since last year, which would have been sad.  I guess the lesson is...back things up.

Anyways. apparently, by posting again, my blog is back?  So here it is. but things look quite debaucherous with all these clashing colours. Apologies.  It's 1:52 am and I must sleep now and not worry about the colour template of my blog.  So I'll fix it later. For now, to anyone who has to see this hideous layout...really, I'm sorry.

Forgive me Blog, for I have sinned.

It's been almost a month now since I've posted last. I apologize.  Really, I have no good reason for my absence. The Place of Cool

I found this site last week (I saved this post as a draft and I'm just posting it now), which is now linked in the "Sites I visit" section.  It's pretty...for a lack of a better word...cool.  Here are some things I found.  Click on the picture for more.

 Breakdancing Transformers...need I say more?

The Lifestyle Navigator led me to this book by Elton John.  Portraits of 44 women who wear nothing but Jimmy Choo's and a piece of Cartier jewelry.  This book raises money for the Sir Elton John's AIDs foundation.  Naked women, good causes...of course.

Sony's  QRIO robots doing a Japanese fan dance.  I love those little robots :) ...you can watch the video at the link.

Look at Book - For 36 weeks, a book was sent around between 4 artists: 2in Brooklyn, 2 in Belfast. Each week it was passed on and it would give each artist 5 days to complete a page. There was no communication between the artists except the preceding pages of the book. This book travelled 36,000 miles before completion! Pretty kickass.

Ok, there is so much more cool stuff there, but I totally got lazy halfway through this post...But check it out....here>>> www.joshspear.com

third degree of boredom.

Most would say I'm lucky being able to get away and relax. And for the first couple of days, I agreed. I was happy to be able to lounge around and not get up at 8 am to go to work.  But now I just feel useless. Unproductive.  I try to be productive by reading, playing the piano, running on the treadmill...then I realize that I'm just going through the motions.  Most of the day, I find myself not being able to lift my body off of the couch.  I've become a first class Couch Potato.  My mind has somehow detached from my body and is wandering off somewhere, while my outer shell just lies there motionless.  And my sleeping pattern has just become atrocious.  I find myself up until 3am every night whether I want to fall asleep or not.  Then in the mornings, my body and mind REFUSE to get out of bed in hopes that more time will pass by if I just sleep.

I've also had this prominent headache consistently for these past few days, that only affects the left side of my head.  It hasn't helped my situation either.  I'm bored.  Really bored. and on top of that, I have a headache. Ugh. Why won't the time just go by faster!? Come on Saturday, you seem so soon by yet so far away!

The only thing getting me through this is knowing there is one thing I can look forward to everyday.  The ring of a phone. Then hearing that voice.  At least we can share the boredom together, right?  And it's T-4 days till I get to see you! Yay!

But for now, my boredom awaits.  Oh London, how I long for thee.

OOH, but yesterday I DID get to go shopping in North Bay which eased the pain just a little.  I managed to spend about half of my tip earnings in less then 20 minutes. OH MY.  But I did get some letter pins to adorn my bag for O-week.  It spells out fashionably, M I T. That's right.  Then  I got some clothes.  Of course I did...I think reading Shopaholic is just making things WORSE for me....ahhh!! But I did manage to finish the book.  I was halfway through it then all in one night, I finished the other half.  Now, I'm on to the Shopaholic Takes Manhattan!

You would think...

with all this spare time I have being bored in the North Pole that I would have tons of time to post.  But I seem to have fallen into this lack of inspiration to write.  Hm, well, not that I had much inspiration to begin with.  But that's besides the point.

So today all my fellow MIT-ers are going off to their adventure in the wild, MIT cAMpIng Styles...and I unfortunately will be going to the Dentist and serving local folk of the Great White North in the evening.  Tis a shame.  But I guess I'm making money.

The dentist came in to have dinner last night and as he was leaving, he stopped to chat with me for a second about my appointment the next day.  In which he asks what I'll be needing done...then he says, "I think I'll take out your 2 front teeth.  You have some really nice ones for my collection."  Hmm, great. that's comforting.   As if the thought of the pain from him prying at my mouth isn't bad enough (stupid cankers), he had to go and say that.

Anyways, I have been doing lots of really productive stuff here.  No really, I have.  I've taken a lot of pictures of nature and dogs (i'll explain) which I can't post right now because the cable I left back in London.  But I will post some when I return home.

I've also gotten through a good chunk of Confessions of a Shopaholic...which in many opinions of friends and family, I much needed to read.  Me? A Shopaholic?  Please.

I've also written lots.  Mostly in letter form...mostly just rambling.  Nothing of substance really.  But then again, I guess most of my writing is usually just rambling.  Such as this post.  Wow, I should stop. Sorry to anyone who just wasted 3 minutes of their time they will never get back.
